Join Us for Our World Premiere in Paris (Last Chance)!

Don't miss this very special opportunity to join supporters of the company in Paris for the world premiere on July 5th of Elemental Brubeck, Lar Lubovitch's newest dance.  The piece is set to a score by jazz legend Dave Brubeck, with costumes by Tony-Award winner Ann Hould-Ward and lighting by Tony-Award winner Jennifer Tipton.  Lubovitch created the dance working with the dancers of both the Lubovitch company and the San Francisco Ballet.  In Paris the dance will be performed by the Ballet.  The Lubovitch company is offering a Paris travel package from Thursday, June 30 - Wednesday, July 6, including hotel accommodation (at the fashionable Hotel Bourg Tibourg in the Marais) and VIP Tickets to the world premiere performance, as well as exclusive invitations to receptions, dinners and events.

The performance will launch Les Etes de la Danse de Paris - a prestigious new dance festival being presented in the historic garden courtyard of the 18th century Hotel de Rohan-Soubise, home of the National Archives of France.  Learn more about the venue and the festival at www.lesetesdeladanse.com.

Only limited spaces remain available - please call or e-mail the Lubovitch company now (at 212-221-7909 or Lubovitch@aol.com) if you are interested in being part of this unique Paris experience.

Praise for Company’s Performance in New York Last Month.

On May 16th the Lubovitch company performed Do You Be at the Danspace Project at St. Mark's Church, in honor of Michael Kaiser (head of the Kennedy Center in Washington) and as the Lubovitch company's contribution to the 30th anniversary season fundraiser of the Danspace Project.  Do You Be is set to two songs (from the CD of the same name) by Meredith Monk.  Lubovitch dancers Griff Braun, Jason McDole and Rebecca Rigert brought the house down.  The New York Times said Lubovitch's highly original movement made the dancers look "as if they had invented a new form of ballroom dancing."

Great Results (So Far) of Annual Giving by Individuals -- Thank You!

Thanks to all the individuals who have supported (so far) our annual fundraising campaign, helping us toward our goal.  The value of those donations has been doubled through a generous matching gift from the McMullan Family Foundation.  We are happy to report that the campaign has (to date) raised over $60,000 in support of the company's activities this year - which include the creation of 4 new works, 2 educational programs in New York City schools and our upcoming week of performances at the brand new 900-seat Skirball Center this fall.  It is still not too late to make your gift to the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company.  Your support is vital to the creative, performance and educational programs we deliver, in New York and across the country.  Call 212-221-7907 or e-mail Matson@lubovitch.org to find out how you can become a supporter of the company.

November Performances of Lubovitch Company at Skirball Center Will Be Fall Highlight.

Love Stories  (2005) by Lar Lubovitch (as performed by Hubbard Street Dance Chicago).

Now that summer has finally arrived in New York (with a vengeance), we are already thinking ahead to the fall and to the Lubovitch company's upcoming performances.  The centerpiece for us will be our season from November 8 - 12, 2005 at the brand new 900-seat Skirball Center for the Arts, located on Washington Square.  The performances will feature American and New York premieres of dances by Lar Lubovitch, along with other recent work.  Tickets will go on sale this summer.  http://www.skirballcenter.nyu.edu/calendar.html

In addition to the Skirball Center performance season, the company will perform on September 14th as part of the free Evening Stars dance series in Battery Park, produced by the Joyce Theater and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.  The company will perform My Funny Valentine on a shared bill with other celebrated New York dance artists, giving audiences a chance to appreciate the rich diversity of dance offerings in the city.  Lubovitch created the duet in tribute to the music of Richard Rodgers, and it was featured last year in Robert Altman's film The Company.  (Lubovitch was nominated for an American Choreography Award for his work on the film.)  For more information on this event: www.joyce.org.

Save the Date:  Friday November 11th Gala.

Mark your calendar today for Friday November 11, 2005 so you won't miss the Lubovitch company's gala event this fall.  Plans are underway to make this an extra special evening including a pre-performance cocktail party, a gala performance by the company at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, a post-performance dinner reception and a silent auction.  Last year's event was a lot of fun and also a great success, and we look forward to another wonderful event.  Look for more details soon.
