Capacity Building Projects
The Lar Lubovitch Dance Company is currently experiencing a tremendous period of growth (motivated both internally and externally). Not only are we nearing our 40th anniversary of operation, we have also emerged
as a surviving senior member of the world of organized dance. As a result, we are assuming a role of greater leadership in addressing field-wide issues that offer many challenges and opportunities as the world
evolves from an industrial economy to an information economy. The Lubovitch company is one of the very few modern dance companies incorporated as a non-profit organization prior to 1972. We have been at the
forefront of the world of contemporary dance for more than three decades.
The company is enlarging its focus to encompass far-ranging issues that command ever more attention. Today, dance companies are being catapulted into a future increasingly shaped by ever more rapid advances in
technology. Some of the issues facing the Lubovitch company include:
1. The need for more streamlined and effective communication 2. Enhanced access to information and 3. Rapid dissemination of new ideas.
In order to strengthen the administrative platform that supports all the company’s artistic and educational projects, the company has launched several capacity building initiatives, including the following
interrelated projects:
1. Legacy Initiative: aimed at both preserving and disseminating the company’s body of work 2. Facilities Initiative: aimed at creating a healthful and productivity-boosting office space.
